Visit to Dáil Eireann

Visits by our Members

Our group travelled to Dublin following the pre-booking of tickets. We were met at Heuston Station by TD Michael Collins and travelled by bus to Trinity College before walking to Leinster House on Kildare Street.

We completed a guided tour of Dáil Éireann, which was both informative and interesting. Following refreshments, we attended Taoiseach’s Questions, where housing issues featured prominently, including contributions from Mary Lou McDonald.

During our visit, Junior Minister Christopher O’Sullivan from West Cork spent time with the group. We also met Minister Norma Foley, TD Michael Collins, and Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy. These meetings provided valuable insight into the workings of government and allowed for positive engagement and discussion.

The group enjoyed lunch in the Dáil café and later spent time in the Dáil bar, where further conversations and exchanges took place.

We returned by train at approximately 6.00 p.m. and continued the camaraderie, conversation and friendship on the journey back to Cork.

Overall, the visit was thoroughly enjoyable, educational and worthwhile. It strengthened the friendships and relationships that are central to the spirit of Men’s Sheds. We look forward to many more successful outings and opportunities to represent Kinsale Men’s Shed in the future.
